Marketing to Homeowners? Read on.

Real estate, home goods, financial products and home maintenance are categories that depend on an increasingly younger, savvy homeowner saying "Let's Go!" Homeowners face a lot of choices because the home is both their castle and often their piggybank.

DUNN-EDWARDS PAINTS

Challenge:
Regional paint manufacturer Dunn-Edwards faced inroads from a major competitor in Northern California and needed fresh thinking to better differentiate itself.

Solution:
Through a deep dive into their product offerings, we discovered Dunn-Edwards was the first and only LEED Gold-certified paint manufacturer. We launched "Greener by Design," a campaign that included digital and in-store assets, and sales spiked.

JOHNSON PET-DOR

Challenge:
Pet doors are a rational purchase decision in a category marked by a sea of sameness. For Johnson, this translated into flat sales for several years. Management came to us with a modest marketing budget and a goal of 15% annual sales increases.

Solution:
Nothing happens without awareness, consumer trust and transparency. Focusing on the dog, not the door, we created new packaging, a campaign of small space B2B & B2C ads, POS, activations and a retailer newsletter. The multi-channel effort contributed to an annual sales increase of 22%.

IVY ORGANICS

Challenge:
How do you promote a branded message for an organic mattress manufacturer with less than .1% market share in a competitive, noisy category focused on price and features?

Solution:
We reached organic mattress shoppers through ZIP code-targeted ads in high-profile media and increased sales by 28% within 12 months.

PFISTER FAUCETS

Challenge:
Pfister is a moderately-priced faucet manufacturer with an array of designs and one of dozens found at big box retailers like Home Depot, Lowe’s and OSH. They contacted us because of a lag in sales due, in part, to a lack of brand differentiation; consumers reportedly said Pfister was just like every other faucet.

Solution:
We quickly learned that Pfister was a favorite among plumbers because it’s easy to install and plumbers received higher spiffs from the manufacturer. Branding Pfister as "the plumber's choice" and focusing on dependability, longevity and ease of installation gave us a leg up on the competition and consumer sales increased.

WOLF SUB-ZERO

Challenge:
Known for its commercial cooking equipment and eager to penetrate the residential market, Wolf hired us to position the brand and generate qualified leads. At the time, Wolf lacked consumer awareness, had limited distribution and a modest ad budget.

Solution:
Wolf had one huge advantage – its reputation as the finest commercial cooking equipment used by the world’s most renowned chefs. This point of difference led to a successful brand strategy and a series of award-winning multi-channel campaigns.

GELSON’S

Challenge:
An upscale chain of 28 grocery stores in Southern California, Gelson’s has won dozens of awards for its knowledgeable staff, customer service, and outstanding selection of produce, meats and seafood. The chain wanted to make some noise for its newest West LA store.

Solution:
Our multi-channel targeted plan included outdoor, streaming radio, paid and organic social, and weekly events. The campaign kicked off recently and awareness has been increasing, along with sales.

ZYLISS SALAD SPINNER

Challenge:
We inherited a simple salad spinner with a complex task: build sales and awareness across 3 continents, 3 languages and dozens of cultures.

Solution:
A series of retail support materials, including a shelf talker, display unit, video and a consumer ad campaign touted Zyliss’ benefits, and sales increased 21% year over year.

LOTUS PET FOOD

Challenge:
Regional pet retailer Centinela Feed & Pet wanted to expand its sales footprint while shrinking its carbon paw-print. The retailer came to us looking for a way to lap up growth and keep the planet purring at the same time.

Solution:
They created a private-label, sustainable pet food and we named it Lotus—a symbol of purity in chaos. The branding took on a playful look with eco-friendly packaging and in-store materials. Today, Lotus reigns supreme as a top-selling brand in independent pet stores throughout the U.S. and Asia, and our work was featured in Communication Arts.

CENTRA CREDIT UNION

Challenge:
Member acquisition and retention can be challenging for a credit union – even a heavyweight like Centra - and especially with competition from multinationals and online banking services.

Solution:
Our focused effort to educate and entertain Millennials and Gen Zs about home buying resulted in a flurry of inquiries from first-time home buyers, along with an increase in membership.

RE/MAX

Challenge:
Despite RE/MAX's strength as the largest real estate company in the world, few people knew about its Renowned Properties division. And yet this specialized division targeting the affluent market generated significant sales volume for RE/MAX.

Solution:
Through an integrated trade and consumer program, we developed a solid brand positioning that became the foundation of RE/MAX’s ongoing advertising, collateral, direct response, public relations and interactive efforts.

Goodwill

Challenge:
Goodwill, the king of thrift, is the world’s most sustainable brand, with an armada of 80+ stores in SoCal alone. It's a treasure trove of nearly new appliances, vintage furniture, and inventive accessories for homeowners willing to dig a bit deeper to furnish their homes. Nearly 60% of Goodwill's annual revenue comes in during the Halloween season.

Solution:
We made Goodwill synonymous with Halloween through a multi-channel campaign including more than 75 unique executions across TV, OOH, print and digital. Young people flocked to the stores for their costumes and sales skyrocketed 38%. More importantly, many of these treasure seekers turned into loyal customers, brand ambassadors and even influencers.
