Home Services
MARKETING TO HOMEOWNERS? READ ON.
Real estate, home goods, financial products and home maintenance are categories that depend on an increasingly younger, savvy homeowner saying "Let's Go!" Homeowners face a lot of choices because the home is both their castle and often their piggybank.
If you're looking for an agency with a solid blueprint for reaching consumers in the home space, let’s talk.
Dunn-Edwards Paints
The Challenge
Regional challenger paint brand Dunn-Edwards faced inroads from a major competitor in Northern California and needed fresh thinking to better differentiate itself.
The Solution
A deep dive into their product offerings led to a discovery that Dunn-Edwards was the first and only LEED Gold-certified paint manufacturer. Refreshing their “Greener by Design” platform across all channels, including digital and retail, led to successfully driving more traffic to retail and an uptick in sales. A win for D-E, contractors, consumers and the environment.
Pfister
The Challenge
Pfister is a moderately-priced faucet manufacturer with an array of designs and one of dozens found at big box retailers like Home Depot, Lowe’s and OSH. They contacted us because of a lag in sales due, in part, to a lack of brand differentiation; consumers reportedly said Pfister was just like every other faucet.
The Solution
We quickly learned that Pfister was a favorite among plumbers because it’s easy to install and plumbers received higher spiffs from the manufacturer. Branding Pfister as "the plumber's choice" and focusing on dependability, longevity and ease of installation gave us a leg up on the competition and consumer sales increased.
WOLF SUB ZERO
The Challenge
Known for outstanding commercial cooking equipment and eager to penetrate the residential market, Wolf hired us to position the brand and generate qualified leads. At the time, Wolf lacked consumer awareness, had limited distribution and a modest marketing budget.
The Solution
Wolf’s commercial reputation gave us a leg up. Award-winning chefs internationally, many of them Michelin, revered Wolf and let us make it known. The brand promise to consumers of cooking on the world’s finest equipment contributed to a nearly 40% increase in sales, awareness and market share.
JOHNSON PETDOR
The Challenge
Pet doors are a rational purchase decision in a category marked by a sea of sameness. For Johnson, this translated into flat sales for several years. Management came to us with a modest marketing budget and a goal of 15% annual sales increases.
The Solution
Nothing happens without awareness, consumer trust and transparency. Focusing on the dog, not the door, we created new packaging, a campaign of small space B2B & B2C ads, POS, activations and a retailer newsletter. The multi-channel effort contributed to an annual sales increase of 22%.
Centra Credit Union
The Challenge
Member acquisition and retention can be challenging for a credit union – even a heavyweight like Centra - and especially with competition from multinationals and online banking services.
The Solution
We encouraged millennials and Gen Zs to make better money decisions by making finance a little hip. Video, outdoor, social, even in-branch POS and activations reminded prospective homeowners that while "Adulting is hard, Centra makes it easier." The result: A flurry of inquiries for home loans and a whopping 20% increase in membership. Segmentation drove message clarity and efficiency.
Pocket Geek Home
The Challenge
Assurant wanted to differentiate itself from competitors while simultaneously relaunching Pocket Geek Home - part of a family of insurance products combining both protection and live technical support for an affordable monthly fee.
The Solution
Consumers identified with Assurant’s Pocket Geek logo - a recognizable asset that set the insurance carrier apart from its competitors. We brought the Pocket Geek character to life. And we used the endearing super hero to demonstrate the ease of connecting home devices, resulting in thousands of leads and ongoing monthly subscriptions for Assurant.
Lotus Pet Food
The Challenge
Centinela Feed & Pet, a regional pet retailer, wanted to expand its sales footprint while shrinking its carbon paw-print. The challenger brand came to us looking for a way to lap up growth and keep the planet purring at the same time.
The Solution
Together, we created a private-label, pet food brand full of top-notch ingredients and focused on the founder’s philosophy of sustainable manufacturing. We named it Lotus—a symbol of purity in chaos. The work took on a playful look with eco-friendly packaging and in-store materials, because getting noticed at retail is key to consumer preference. Today, Lotus reigns supreme as a top-selling brand in independent pet stores throughout the U.S. and Asia.
Resilient Palisades
The Challenge
Resilient Palisades is a community, grassroots group formed to address climate and ecological issues. They created an innovative solar initiative designed to reduce emissions, save money and combat climate change, and wanted a cost-effective way to market it to 3,500 qualified homeowners.
The Solution
We reached qualified homeowners with messaging addressing their biggest pain point – frequent power outages. Our targeted, grass roots effort including eblasts, direct mail, outdoor, local events, social and earned media. After less than 18 months, more than 60 homeowners have converted to solar, with dozens more actively deliberating.
Gelson’s
The Challenge
An upscale chain of 28 grocery stores in Southern California, Gelson’s has won dozens of awards for its knowledgeable staff, customer service, and outstanding selection of produce, meats and seafood. The chain wanted to make some noise for its newest West LA store.
The Solution
Our multi-channel targeted plan included outdoor, streaming radio, paid and organic social, and weekly events. The campaign kicked off recently and awareness has been increasing, along with sales.
Ready. Chef. Go! Cooking Bags
The Challenge
When a commodity bag supplier acquired an environmentally sustainable cooking bag, they reached out for support. LK Packaging needed everything from product positioning, strategy, target audience and branding, to naming and distribution. And most important - results.
The Solution
We created the brand Ready. Chef. Go! Consumers could enjoy delicious “meals in minutes” in these compostable, biodegradable bags. Grocers realized higher margins from the program and plastic bag usage has been reduced significantly, along with water consumption.
ZYLISS SALAD SPINNER
The Challenge
We inherited a simple salad spinner with a complex task: build sales and awareness across 3 continents, 3 languages and dozens of cultures.
The Solution
A series of retail support materials, including a shelf talker, display unit, video and a consumer ad campaign touted Zyliss’ benefits, and sales increased 21% year over year.
