Discovering the O’Neill House: Beverly Hills’ Art Nouveau Treasure

Just steps from the luxury of Rodeo Drive lies a hidden treasure: the O’Neill House. What started as a modest Spanish-style home from the 1930s became a whimsical icon of surrealist architecture in the mid-80s, thanks to art nouveau dealer Don O’Neill.

Inspired by the fantastical creations of Antoni Gaudí, Don reimagined the house as a playful, artistic retreat. With fluid, organic shapes and glimmering glass details, the residence stands out as a celebration of creativity amid the otherwise traditional Beverly Hills mansions.

Tragically, Don O’Neill passed away before his dream home was complete, but his vision lives on. The house has since appeared in pop culture, including an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210, adding to its allure.

While the O’Neill House is a private residence and not open for tours, it’s a popular spot for fans of unique architecture to admire from afar.
