The Miller Group is an internationally-known organization transformation training and consulting firm specializing in helping private and public companies and other organizations improve performance and productivity — one person at a time.

We accomplish this goal primarily by leading programs focused on increasing the level of emotional wellness in individual employee’s lives. Major proven benefits from people living happier and more fulfilled lives include increased performance and productivity in the organizations in which they work. Our comprehensive “research of the research” on well-being supports our view that companies and organizations today, more than ever before, can “do well by doing good” for their most valuable assets — their employees.

Our Mission:    We help companies and organizations around the world improve performance and productivity by helping them improve the physical health and emotional well-being of their employees and members.

Our Strategy:    We accomplish this mission via several overlapping yet reinforcing and synergistic strategies:

  1. Research. We have performed 10 years of in-depth research studying and analyzing the past 40 years of happiness research by psychologists, social scientists and happiness researchers around the world on what are the proven paths that are essential to live a happier and more fulfilling life. This research includes and emphasizes the recent breakthrough work by leading psychologists in the new and emerging science of Positive Psychology, the recent findings by biologists and neurologists in the areas of our genetic happiness heritage, brain chemicals and brain function and the wisdom of revered philosophers since time began.
  2. Synthesis. We have synthesized the research and study results down into an easy-to-understand, accessible set of six imperatives that have been proven essential for people to live happier and more fulfilling lives. We bring the results of this synthesis to life by recommending over 500 proven strategies and specific actions to be implemented into our day-to-day lives.
  3. Training. We summarize and present these potentially life-changing, research-based results to groups of individuals in organizations around the world  in powerful, one day workshops. During these workshops, we help individuals perform a series of self-assessments to evaluate their current level of well-being today, assess their current progress on implementing the proven actions needed to increase their feelings of well-being and prepare a detailed plan to implement the proven actions that best “fit” their unique situation and will best allow them to experience heightened levels of emotional wellness – resulting in increased performance and productivity.

  1. We are strictly research-based. Our “research of the research” insures that both the six imperatives and our specific recommendations are based solely on real world, scientific study results from psychologists and other happiness researchers about what is essential for living a happier life and not on New Age mystical thoughts and beliefs nor on random, individual opinions, experiences or anecdotal stories about well-being.
  2. We take a holistic and proactive approach toward enduringly increasing the level of real well-being in our clients’ lives, not just fighting a holding action against the stress and time pressures present in abundance in our professional and personal lives and in our companies and organizations of today.
  3. Using our proven seven-step process, we are specifically focused on helping individuals create Personal Happiness Plans containing specific actions to improve their level of happiness and fulfillment and their overall quality of life. We insure that these Personal Happiness Plans are based on successful research, not just a potpourri of ideas to help them feel better.
  4. Our focus is on reaching and helping people in the companies and organizations in which they work. This is where our experience and expertise lies. And, because organizations of all types are where so many of us spend the majority of our life’s time, they offer the greatest potential for lasting change and a happier life for individuals and increased performance and productivity for their companies and organizations.

Whenever appropriate, we look to create partnerships between managers and employees to help them work together to restructure, re-craft and improve individual work situations to increase the amount of emotional well-being employees feel and, as a result, to increase their individual and their organization’s collective performance and productivity.

We believe in the importance of the opportunities in companies and organizations today to proactively create the conditions so that their most valued assets — their employees and members — can contribute to their fullest by maximizing their skills and abilities to benefit both themselves, their organization and their organization’s clients.

We believe in the value of research — and of using the results of that research to provide the evidence supporting our recommendations for increasing emotional well-being both in our writing and in our workshops.

The Miller Group operates as a virtual training, speaking, and consulting firm. Although our primary principal, trainer, speaker and consultant is Henry S.
